When a woman becomes pregnant, it is one of the headiest days in a woman’s life. For most, it is the realization of the role women play in this world, realizing for the first time that they are now on the verge of giving birth to a new life and as a lifeline through which a child will be introduced to the world. For a woman, no other event can even come close to the significance pregnancy has on her life.

On the other hand, along with the joys of conceiving are threats to both the mother’s and child’s health that can undermine the whole process of pregnancy. If these negative effects are not properly addressed, the ensuing pain and suffering may place both mother and child at risk.

STDs and What They Can Do

One of the dangers that comes with pregnancy is the possibility of contracting sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). STDs are illnesses that have a strong possibility of being transmitted between humans and animals or across both groups through sexual intercourse, oral, and anal sex. Some STDs are transmitted through the use of needles that have been used by an infected patient or through childbirth and breastfeeding. STDs constitute a whole wide range of diseases, and any number of them may infect a person at any given time.  

For women who just learned that they are pregnant, one of the commonly done procedures is to determine first if they are affected with STDs of any kind because the presence of the disease may mean a complicated pregnancy and a risky delivery. It should also mean passing on the disease to the child or causing physical and mental abnormalities on the child. As such, the main reason for conducting tests on the presence of STDs is to realize if it is wise to go on with the pregnancy or if it is better and wiser to terminate the pregnancy or perhaps induce premature delivery to avoid further complications.  

How to Prevent Contracting STDs

For a woman or for anyone who need to be protected from STDs, the most effective weapon against contracting the disease is prevention. However, there seems no better way to avoid it than complete abstinence. But if abstinence cannot be adhered, the only possible way to prevent getting STDs is to use condoms during intercourse. Though vaccines are available to help cure some STDs, they do not prevent anyone from contracting the disease. That is why most experts agree that the best way to avoid STD infection is to practice safe sex.  

However, that seems easier said than sound. For a pregnant woman, although sexual intercourse has to be done with extreme caution and for a limited time only during pregnancy, nonetheless, when sexual intercourse is still done, one should advise her partner to wear a condom. However, using oils as lubricants and flavored condoms have to be avoided because oil can cause holes in the condom and the sugar flavoring in flavored condoms may cause vaginal infection. Even with the use of condom, one is not fully protected as condoms do protect only the covered part by serving as a barrier between the sex organs. Hence, the safest means to avoid STDs is still abstinence.

Treatment may be given to the baby after birth. However, the treatment of the baby may be critical since the body’s defense of a small child is still weak and may not be able to fight all illnesses and diseases it has contracted.

If a pregnant woman is suspecting of being infected with an STD infection, she may immediately take an STD test. This can help them avoid passign the disease to the baby especially if the disease contracted is curable. Once STD is detected, it can be treated right away. A pregnant woman must ask for the doctor’s prescription before taking any medications or drugs.

Local STD testing is done in hospitals or health clinics. She may also ask for help from her gynecologist, some doctors are also trained to do an STD test. There are also some STD testing clinics that can help pregnant women with their STD problems. These clinics offer reproductive health screening, treatment and counseling. A pregnant woman may take treatment as long as the baby will not be affected by the medications she will take. Some medications may even prevent the baby from acquiring the disease.

If genital herpes is contracted, the woman is advised to give birth under cesarean section. This is to prevent the baby from passing through the infected area of the mother.

Women whether pregnant or not should always look after their health. Abstinence or practice of safe sex using condoms is advised to use as a preventive measures against sexually transmitted diseases.  These are ways to avoid putting you and your child’s life at risk.

The American flag is a symbol of freedom and sacrifice for United States citizens. Although we typically picture cloth versions of this national emblem, it can be anything that the observer acknowledges. Therefore, a Christmas tree adorned in red, white, and blue could be considered an American flag. Examples can be made from any material or placed on any object. The tragic events of September 11th resurrected a since of patriotism within the United States. The result has been a desire to display the American flag in front of homes, office buildings, and everywhere possible.

The historic tale of Betsy Ross painstakingly sewing the first American flag is widely known. However, many of the details of that extraordinary event, along with the circumstances leading up to it have been overlooked. To begin with, the colonies had adopted several flags as a representation of their new American beliefs. The “Don’t Tread on Me” version incorporated red and white stripes with a snake across it. A popular option used by George Washington, which signified the unification of the colonies, was similar to the British emblem. Washington raised this particular version at Prospect Hill. The Loyalists misinterpreted the emblem as a sign of defeat.

The confusion that ensued prompted General George Washington, Colonel George Ross, and Robert Morris, along with other key members of the Congressional Committee, to enlist the aid of Mrs. Ross. At the time Betsy Ross was running an upholstery business. She had completed several assignments for General Washington, and he was familiar with her work, as well as being a personal friend. They provided her with a crude drawing of the appointed American flag and commissioned her to complete the work. She began the assignment in early May and completed the job in late May or early June.

The American flag was raised on July 4, 1776 to commemorate the birth of a new nation. Independence Day offers all United States citizens an opportunity to remember the hardships that our forefathers endured to gain our freedom. The American flag has been an inspiration to citizens of the United States, since its inception. Francis Scott Key composed our national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, after his relief at seeing the American flag flying at dawn following a brutal battle, during the War of 1812. The symbolic raising of this national symbol has marked other moments in United States history. Soldier’s lifted the “Colors” to signify victory and determination after the Battle of Iwo Jima; in the same way, the first astronauts to walk on the moon placed “Old Glory” within its powdery surface.

This type of patriotism waned in the late 20th century, but was brought back after tragedy gripped our nation on September 11, 2001. American flags are becoming a hot commodity and displaying “Old Glory” should be conducted with dignity. After that horrific day, citizens rose up and began displaying “Old Glory” throughout the land. A desire to perpetuate this newfound pride meant individuals wanted to keep the display up 24 hours a day. In order to maintain respect, the Colors must be properly illuminated.

Our country has seen dark days within its history and recent past, however the undying resolve of its citizens continues to surprise its foes. The American flag stands for the strength and commitment that is within all the country’s citizens.

It is amazing how fast a huge government bureaucracy can respond when it wants to. Indeed, in a space of two short weeks, the United State government just recently proposed, composed, and passed a financial services bailout bill. The bill provides 750 billion dollars to bail out Wall Street.

Of course, the government had to react quickly because a lack of regulation and government oversight allowed a problem to escalate for many years into a financial crisis. I thought of the bailout bill and I wondered about the government’s response to the current mystery of the disappearing honey bee, called Colony Collapse Disorder, or CCD.

CCD is unique since it leaves bee hives with a queen bee, a few newly-hatched adults, and plenty of food, while all of the worker bees responsible for crop pollination simply disappear. In response to this agricultural crisis, this year’s Farm Bill authorized several programs focused on pollinator-related issues. The Farm Bill included the development and protection of pollinator habitats in conservation programs.

In addition, the Bill identified pollinator protection as high priority research and covered bees and honey production in agriculture disaster assistance programs. It also required the USDA to report annually on the progress made in addressing colony losses.

Indeed, the problem of CCD continues to escalate. A few months ago, a panel of experts told a House Agriculture subcommittee that the U.S commercial honey bee industry lost a record 36 percent of its colonies in 2008. In 2007, the industry lost 31% of its colonies due to the mysterious illness that threatens the future of beekeeping and the health of a variety of important crops.

Almonds bloom in California in February each calendar year. Several months before the first bloom, beekeepers move their bees to California to feed and prepare for almond pollination. In the last two years, as early as December, the problem of Colony Collapse Disorder in California has begun to appear. Soon, we will see if Colony Collapse Disorder continues to be a problem for American agriculture next year.

The American honey bee industry is valued at more than $15 billion, with over 90 different crops dependent on honey bee pollination to grow. So, much of this country’s diet, the affordability of basic food staples, and our national health is at risk.

Unfortunately, it is a risk that lacked a sense of government urgency in June in the Hearing To Investigate Progress On CCD, held by the Subcommittee on Horticulture And Organic Agriculture in Washington, D.C..

Consider the oral testimony of David Mendes, Vice President of the American Beekeeping Federation, from his appearance at that June meeting (as reported in the American Beekeeping Federation Newsletter). “I spoke to the need for more sampling inside our hives of pollen, bees, and honey to identify what pathogens our bees are exposed to.”

Mendes continued: “ I shared my experience of collecting samples from my hives as part of a project organized by Penn State and the CCD Working Group. I specifically voiced my frustration that the efforts put into collecting samples (18 hives sampled 7 times from March 2007 to January 2008) have produced very little useful information because the majority of the samples still have not been analyzed in the lab. They sit in storage due to a lack of funding.”

The reason for CCD may be systemic pesticides or simply a bee virus, but a cause still remains unclear. The key to solving the mystery of the disappearing honey bee is money. Government funding is necessary to provide the research to determine the cause of CCD before beekeepers are ruined and flowering crops in need of pollination just disappear.

Certainly, Colony Collapse Disorder is a crisis that, if left unresolved, will eventually require a huge agricultural and beekeeper industry bailout by the United States Congress. However, unlike the recent Wall Street bailout that used taxpayer dollars, a compromise of our diet and health will add human suffering to the high monetary cost.

I usually look around on the internet to see I can find and usually do find helpful information, but in the end I always turn back to a book that leads me through a good method of getting more gold or other type of character strength.
 
Warcraft is just like real world in this sense because if you are in need of money you turn to a professional to help you out streamline your financial problems. Here you go, a book, the perfect way to streamline your financial problems in World of Warcraft. Don’t just stop with one book either. Read several books because you will most likely end up taking three or for methods you have read about and turning them into one method that fits your game playing strategy the best.
 
The best way to play is with strategy and use books to develop this. I would highly suggest developing a library. If you love Warcraft as I do and sit in front of the computer for hours playing you can do the same in front of a book teaching yourself. I consider this part of playing the game. Don’t just read a book once either, read it several times because you never soak in all the information the first time. Use the book as a reference also. It is not always necessary to read the entire book cover to cover each time. If you have a question or thought go back and just read a chapter. I like to highlight parts I think I’ll need in the future so it is easy to find. I also like to use sticky pads so I can write notes on the pads to remind me of something later.
 
Books will always be your best resource of learning how to become a better player at World of Warcraft. They are an invaluable tool that will teach you something new every time you open one. If you like playing Warcraft so much than you must spend time in front of the computer so the best place to look for these books is right in front of you. Its easy and fast and you can find anything and more than you could at the library or book store.

what should i wear to this crazy costume wedding?

my friend just invited me to go to this wedding reception with her tomorrow night at 7 pm. it’s going to be a very fun and casual event, very different from your traditional formal wedding, and guests are encouraged to invite other people to come. and the best part? it’s a costume wedding!!! seriously, it actually says on the invitation that you’re encouraged to wear as crazy a costume as you want, as long as it’s not too inappropriate…haha so i haven’t put together my halloween outfit yet, so i need some help to figure out what to wear. the party’s TOMORROW, so it’s got to be something that’s easy to put together. i have a bunch of different random accessories like pirate stuff, different wigs and hats and other stuff like that, and i can always use some of my regular clothes.

dress like an egyptian/cleopatra. all you really need is a long white dress*, a gold belt, and hot gold shoes. the do your make up with the wide black eyeliner and blue eyeshadow. i would make your hair “picture appropriate” and just use a gold clip/headband to tie everything together.

*if you don’t have a white dress they should be on sale at this point all over the place, so don’t stress.
