We all love Marilyn Monroe. Her blond hair, clear eyes and bright red lips greatly impressed people all over the world, living the eternal flawless look for us. While, I have never expected that she would be on my dress. For the upcoming Fall/Winter season, Dolce & Gabbana really obsessed with Marilyn Monroe for their Fall/Winter 09 collection. Its black and white full-skirt dress is adorned with Marilyn Monroe’s likeness. I’m sure it will lead a new trend in fashion industry and be favored by more and more celebrities, just like the effect of Louis Vuitton handbags and Gucci handbags.

The dress features oversized black and White Marilyn Monroe print on the front, feminine and sexy. We’re still not sure we’d want to wear someone else’s face on our bodies, but this is definitely different, and we’re loving the shape of the skirt.

There is no feeling quite like the one you get when you hear a wailing siren and look up to see flashing blue lights in your rear view mirror. The initial panic that you are about to get pulled over can make your driving erratic even if, as in most cases, the emergency vehicle simply wants to get by.

The police, fire service and ambulance are all permitted to use blue flashing lights and sirens when reacting to an emergency situation, they are also allowed to break certain road regulations and speed limits, including driving through red lights if the circumstances dictate. Other services are also permitted to use flashing blue lights including coastguard, mountain rescue bomb disposal and medical transplant services. Additionally a doctor answering an emergency call will use flashing green lights.

When you first see the blue flashing lights you must override the feeling of panic and stay calm, in most cases the emergency vehicle will just want to get past as quickly, safely and smoothly as possible. Avoid the temptation to slam on the brakes and pull up on the kerb, instead look ahead for a safe spot to pull over and then indicate so the following driver knows what you are doing.

Once the emergency vehicle has passed you by, resist the temptation to pull straight back out again, as it is possible that the emergency may require several vehicles and so other emergency services may also be following closely behind. Once they have passed take a few moments to reassess the traffic situation before pulling back out as the event may have left other roads users slightly alarmed or confused.

Often you will hear the siren before you see the emergency vehicle, and although siren technology has advanced beyond the basic two tone siren, it can still be difficult to locate where the sound is coming from. If this occurs at a junction then take extra time to try and locate the source of the sound before proceeding.

If you are being followed by a police car which requires you to stop, then they will normally do so by flashing their car headlight bulbs, indicating and pointing to you to pull over to the left. Remember you must still find a safe place to pull over and once stopped you should switch off the engine. Remain calm and courteous to the police officer at all times and be prepared to produce your driver’s license, certificate of insurance and any other relevant motoring documents.

Alongside the Police patrol cars you may now also see the Highways Agency Traffic Officers on motorways. Often their vehicles can be confused for police cars as they have similar reflective markings and blue lights on the roof. Remember, whilst a Traffic Officer cannot charge you with any motoring offences, including speeding, it is an offence not to comply with their directions.

Despite their name, Yellow Headed Amazon Parrots did not originate in the Amazon. They actually originated along the coastal regions of Mexico. Their beautiful colors and bold striking marking are what helped to make them so popular as pets. They are predominantly bright green with a vivid yellow head and a beautiful red patch on each wing. Their native habitat is now primarily in Central America where there are large tropical forests and swamps that allow them to nest safely. Their beauty has caused them to become rare and endangered. Poaching of the birds as well as deforestation of the region has caused a dramatic drop in the number of birds.

Yellow Headed Amazons which are breed in captivity are readily available but they have become quite expensive to buy. People then to like them because they can be very verbal and talkative. The problem is that the ability to talk varies greatly with each individual bird. Some will talk your ear off while others may never say a word. They are amazingly intelligent. They are also playful and have great a great sense of humor. Add to that the fact that they can be extremely noisy and you’ve got a housefull of excitement. They like attention and if they do not receive it they will certainly let you know that they are needy at the moment. The challenge to the owner is to get the bird to replace all of it’s screeching with intelligent words. A wonderful and rewarding challenge.

These birds tend to be very active and they need an environment that will allow them the space to fly and move around. There cage is a wonderful place to house them but they need time each day to get out and about. The good news is that even though they are quite large and can be quite destructive, their intelligence allows them to be very well trained where they will not tear your house apart. Obviously, part of the training is to provide lots of chew toys and branches for them to play with.

The male yellow headed parrot will grow to about 15 inches long while the female will be slightly smaller. Their hooked beak is used to crack seeds and nuts and also as a hand to help them to grab and climb. Their feet have two toes pointing forward and two toes pointing backwards. The perfect setup for grasping branches and food.

In their natural habitat their diet consists mostly fruit, nuts, corn, flowers, etc. At home, the owner needs to not only provide fruits and vegetables but also seeds and pellet food.

One of the biggest considerations for a person considering adopting a Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot is its life expectancy. Birds this large can live 60+ years with some reported to reach 100 years. For the right person, these birds will give years and years of happiness, pleasure, and entertainment.

What’s the best way to start a new Magic: The Gathering collection/make a White/Black deck?

I’ve played MTG several times with other people’s decks, and I’m now looking to start a collection of my own. Preferably, I want to make a White/Black deck (and not spend a ton of money in process). What’s the best way to start a collection for building a deck like this?

get on eBay, buy someone’s massive card collection. You can usually get a good deal, and keep an eye out for cards from Urza’s block, since some of those cards are really overpowered. As for black/white, hit up Odyssey block clerics and Ravnica Orzhov cards. You may want to try some preconstructed decks, just so you can get a feel for deckbuilding, then start tweaking those to your liking. You can probably get the eBay order and the preconstructed decks all for $50 or less. Basic Lands are easily found in a large bin at your local card shop for about 10 cents each. I’d only go buy those if I was short a specific type for a build. Good luck!!!!

One of the best ideas for making a fun school program is to listen to the kids. Children have very active imaginations and they are not shy about expressing their ideas. If you are open to their ideas you can give your programs zip and humor. It also gives the children ownership to the program. Here are a few ideas that the students have come up with in some of my programs.

INSERT A COMMERCIAL. Our children are bombarded with commercials and they can sing most of the jingles from memory. One year I had 3 boys that felt our program needed some spicing up and they suggested the old Wendy’s commercial “Where’s the Beef”. They dressed up as three little old ladies and brought the house down with laughter.

SHY STUDENTS—One shy student wanted to be front and center on stage and speak, but he didn’t want anyone to see him. He came as the unknown comic with a sack over his head with holes cut for his eyes.

STROB LIGHTS—The students came up with many ideas to use a strob light. A baseball game, a wrestling match, a cop chasing the bad guy.

BLACK LIGHTS—Some girls suggested the use of black lights for a rock and roll song. They wore white shirts, white socks, and white hair ribbons. The black lights became so popular that they would make up other dances . Once they were used with white gloves and sign language.

TUMBLING—A group of students suggested putting mats across the front of the stage and doing tumbling routines to modern music. Cheerleading became popular and they were used for that.

SINGING—When two girls had to sing a sad song about having no friends they suggested sitting on the piano like the professional singers do.

SONGS—For Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer the students suggested having one prop that they could use and do the silly part of the song such as “Dumbo” “Monopoly”.

You know the part that irritates music directors and teachers. So they made something in the shape of a giant 1 foot light bulb, with a small knob on the handle, that was yellow on one side and gray on one side. They used it for the light bulb, for an elephants trunk for Dumbo, a monopoly piece, and the knob was glittered red for Rudolph nose.

COSTUMES—Students ideas for costumes can save a lot of time. They were always to keep them to only things that they had at home and not ask mom for anything else. They used mops for hair, Styrofoam balls for noses, cowboy hats for a western, tinsel for belts, glitter to make them sparkle under the lights.

when my light is on (for the tank) they mostly stay in a spot and stay there. But when there is just some light they seem active why is that?

This is probably because the light stuns them a little. Just like if you where in a dark or dimmly lit room for a long period of time and someone just flipped on a bright light, you too would react similarly. If the light is on for an extended period, they will most likely get used to it. Or its possible that your light is just too bright.
Also, this could be an effect of your gravel color. If your gravel is a neon or bright color the relection off it could be what is causing your fish to remain motionless. Fish can see in color. So make sure your tank isn’t a full-color display of the rainbow, and unfortunatly maybe make it a little duller, so that your fish can feel more at home.
