All About Fashion Designer Jeans
Denim trousers, also known as jeans, have been a staple of the fashion world for decades. From the bell bottoms of the 1960's to the low riders of today, fashion designer jeans have been a favorite item of stylish people everywhere. Let's take a look at the fashion designer jeans that appeared through the ages:
Jordache was the first real fashion designer jeans brand, appearing in stores in 1978. Created by the Nakash brothers, Jordache quickly became the denim of choice for the fashionable and young. The tight fit, dark wash and horse logo made this brand a household name that is recognized to this day.
After the popularity of Jordache, other brands of fashion designer jeans began appearing on the market. Sassoon, Chic and Guess are three examples of brands that were almost as popular, if not more so, than Jordache. With each of these brands, the denim was skintight and the logos were displayed on the back pockets. Calvin Klein was yet another designer name whose jeans were in demand, thanks in part to those sultry Brooke Shields commercials.
In the eighties, designer jeans began to move away from the dark, tight look and into more baggy and colorful choices. There were stonewash and acid washed jeans, also known as frosted jeans. Jeans were ripped and torn in the name of fashion, embroidered and even dyed wild colors like pink and aqua.
The nineties were all about minimal, classic style. Most fashion designer jeans in this decade weren't dark or frosted, but a natural medium toned denim that fit well with no pleats or adornments. Towards the late nineties, the trend of the cargo and carpenter pant came into style, as did the baggy jeans trend. This meant lots of room and even more pockets.
These days, there are a new crop of fashion designer jeans makers have emerged. Names like Seven, True Religion, Chip and Pepper, and Denim and Paper are just a few labels that represent the hottest jeans on the market today. Unbelievably, Jordache jeans are still worn, although they represent a more discount jean as opposed to the ultra pricey boutique brands.
