What does black lace around an infant’s wrist mean?
My great-grandmother was a descendant of Africans. My mother told me that when I was an infant, my great-grandmother used to tie black lace around my wrists. Is this part of some African blessing or ritual?
Yes, it’s called something like “Black-Eye-(something)” Sorry i forgot it was long ago since I studied it. Anyways it is “supposed” to protect the child from the black eye or bad eye meaning envy, jealousy and stuff like that that people might send to the child.
